Preflop+ vs Push Fold Trainer

Prices and features checked

Both give you push/fold ranges for tournament short stacks. Preflop+ is a phone app from Crafty Wheel (the ThinkGTO team) with Nash charts, an equity calculator and poker math drills, all working offline. Push Fold Trainer deals you solved spots one at a time, scores every answer and tracks where you leak.

Where they differ

Charts vs Practice

Preflop+ is built around its charts and poker math, with a Nash trainer and drills on equity, pot odds and combos. Push Fold Trainer is built around Practice - you decide first, then see the solved range, and every answer is saved so you can see which seats and stacks you're missing.

ICM

Preflop+'s charts are Nash ChipEV, which treat every chip the same, and the app has no ICM mode. Push Fold Trainer has ICM spots for bubbles and final tables, solved with the real payouts.

Opponents who don't play GTO

Push Fold Trainer has opponent profiles from very tight to very loose, with ranges solved against each one. Preflop+ lets you build your own ranges and drill them, but its charts assume everyone plays Nash.

Phone vs browser

Preflop+ is on iPhone and Android and works fully offline. Push Fold Trainer runs in any browser and has an Android app. Our iPhone app is coming soon.

The button at 10bb, chip-EV and bubble ICM

On the left is the solved chip-EV open-shove range from the button at 10bb, the kind of answer a chip-EV tool gives. On the right is our solved range for a 10bb button shove on a money bubble, with the payouts included. The right-hand chart marks where it differs from the left.

Chip-EV: 39% of hands
Bubble ICM: 52% of hands
ShoveFoldWider than GTOTighter than GTO

Hero has 10bb in both, but the chip-EV solve puts every seat on 10bb while the bubble solve uses a real stack distribution with 5 places paid, so the gap is not the payouts alone. The 10bb push/fold guide lists the exact stacks, ante and payouts behind the bubble chart.

Preflop+ vs Push Fold Trainer: common questions

Is Preflop+ free?
The download is free, with daily limits. Pro is $9.99 a month, $79.99 a year or $129.99 once for lifetime access (US App Store prices). Push Fold Trainer's ChipEV ranges and Practice are free with no daily limit, and Pro is $15 a month or $150 a year.
Does Preflop+ have ICM?
No. Its charts are Nash ChipEV, which treat every chip the same. Near a pay jump that's no longer true - that's where ICM ranges come in.
Can I use both?
Yes! Preflop+ is handy for a quick look at a chart on your phone, and Push Fold Trainer is for study sessions where you Practice spots and track your misses.

The chip-EV push/fold ranges here are free with no account, from 4bb to 30bb in 6-max and 9-max, and so are the ICM, bubble factor and satellite calculators.
